The durable record

Evidence, not logs.

Ordinary logs are temporary, partial and tied to the service that wrote them. They answer narrow technical questions and they can be lost. VAULT is different. It holds the governed data, provenance and evidence required to prove what happened — for as long as the record must stand.

Every consequential action taken through CAELOMERE leaves a durable trace in VAULT: what was requested, what authority was held, what decision was made, what happened, and what evidence accompanies the outcome. The record is defensible — the kind a regulator, auditor or board can rely on.

  • Preserves the governed data behind every consequential action
  • Holds provenance — where the data came from, and how it was used
  • Retains the durable evidence that stands behind each outcome
  • Provides the record that survives long after the work is complete
Function

What VAULT preserves.

For every consequential action, VAULT holds the record required to prove what happened — and to answer the questions that follow.

01 — The request

What was asked

The original business problem, structured by FORGE — what the client asked for, in what context, and what outcome was expected.

02 — The authority

Under what standing

The authority verified by Passport — who or what was entitled to act, the scope of that authority, and its validity at the moment of action.

03 — The decision

What was decided

The Guardian outcome — allow, allow with limits, require human approval, or deny — with the reasoning and the controls applied.

04 — The action

What was done

The work performed under authority, with the operational state recorded by Sentinel at each stage — running, waiting, approved, blocked, completed.

05 — The outcome

What resulted

The resolved work, returned to the client through FORGE — including the outcome, any conditions, and any residual matters flagged for attention.

06 — The provenance

Where it came from

The chain of custody for all governed data involved — its origin, its movement, and its use — so the record can be traced end to end.

Why this matters

The record a board, regulator or auditor can rely on.

In regulated and high-consequence environments, the ability to prove what happened is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between an organisation that can defend its decisions and one that cannot.

For the board

Governance

Directors can see, for every consequential action taken with AI assistance, who authorised it and under what policy. Assurance is a record, not a reassurance.

For the regulator

Auditability

Regulators can trace any decision to its authority, its policy basis, its evidence and its outcome — without relying on the organisation's own summary.

For the operator

Accountability

Operators know that the work they perform under authority is recorded precisely and fairly — protecting both the organisation and the individual.

Role in the platform

VAULT preserves the record as the work completes.

While Sentinel shows live operational state, VAULT seals the durable record. Together they close the loop back to FORGE and the client.
